VOID Beginner’s Guide

How it Works

In order to participate, you’ll need a character! This can be something you made up specifically for VOID, or your long-time OC.

All characters must be approved by the Approval Committee. When you are accepted, you are free to challenge, and accept challenges from, other members.

Each challenge that you send or accept will come with a drawing time ranging from 24 hours to up to 5 weeks. In this time period, you must draw an original comic featuring your character and you opponent’s character in some way. If they are friends or foes is entirely up to you. Draw in you own unique style and write whatever type of story you’d like. The rules are very open for you to be creative.

After you submit your comics, the rest of the community will vote on your comic, as well as your opponent’s in 3 different categories: Creativity, Quality, and Entertainment. After a week of voting, the comic with the higher score is the winner.

Creating Your Character

Your character can be pretty much whatever you’d like, as long as it doesn’t violate any copyrights.

You’ll need to submit a full color design sheet that clearly shows your character and their details. This will be used by your opponents as a reference when you accept challenges. You’ll also need a 2-4 page introductory comic. This will demonstrate to the approval committee that you have a basic knowledge of drawing and comics, as well as introduce the rest of the community to your character and what they are all about.

In order to be accepted, you’ll need to show decent human anatomy knowledge, basic comic structure, understanding of backgrounds and perspective, and an overall effort that shows us that you take pride in your work.

Match Types

The most common type of match is a regular match up. In this type, you can draw any story you’d like with no special requirements.

If you are a bit more daring, you can also try a scar match, or a death match where your character will be permanently changed or killed if you lose the match.

Voting, Winning & Rankings

When your comic is up for voting, the community will have 1 week to cast their votes. Voting has 3 categories: Quality, Creativity, and Entertainment.

Characters, as well as artists, are ranked on a leader board.
